Overview
The valley is home to some of the most active, and attractive adult communities in the nation. In fact Dell Webb started adult communities right here in Arizona in 1960 with the opening of Sun City (with over 100,000 visitors in the first 3 days!). Today there are over 50 communities (not including manufactured home communities) catering to the "active adult" market.
If you want to live in a community without kids and the associated schools (no one under 18 can LIVE in an adult community, but they can visit), want plenty of activity options like bowling leagues, computer classes, spa days, arts and crafts, softball leagues, dancing and dance classes, and of course golf, then our Active Adult Communities just might be a perfect fit. Most of the communities are age restricted to adults over 55, but some of them are now 40 and over.
The communities vary in amenities and locations, and offer a variety of living options, from Single Family one story homes, to town homes, to garden and golf condos. How do I know about these communities, well I live in one of them (a 50+ community).

- Province in Maricopa - golf, Community & Fitness Center , lakes & park. Originally developed by Engle Homes, it was sold to Meritage Homes in fall 2009. Engle built the first 400 homes (2,200 total homes at buildout).
Area "N"
- CantaMia - opened March 2010 - first phase of 643 homes on 215 acres. Future phases could add another 1050 homes. Was scheduled to be Engle Homes "Province at Estrella" but builder sold to Joseph Carl Homes. - lakes & parks, golf, pools, recreation & fitness centers along with Solar/Thermal systems on homes that will provide up to 65% of the homes energy.
